The FA Future Fit – Big Changes Coming to Youth Football!

We’re excited to support and share details of Future Fit, a new national initiative from The Football Association and England Football designed to improve the grassroots football experience for young players.

From the September 2026–27 season, there will be important changes to youth football across the England:

🔹 U7s will move to 3v3 football
🔹 Small-sided formats will be played for longer
🔹 11v11 football will now begin at U14 (instead of U13)
🔹 Age-appropriate rule updates to increase ball-in-play time

These changes are all about:
✅ More touches of the ball
✅ More involvement for every player
✅ Better development
✅ More fun

Future Fit is built around putting children first and creating the best possible environment for young players to enjoy and stay in the game.
