Our family orientated club was founded in 2019 to provide fun, friendly, safe and structured environment in which boys and girls from our local community are able to make new friends for life, develop fundamental new skills and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport by developing their talents in playing football to the best each individual player can achieve.
We are a Club with a player progression pathway from Reception Class into Open Age football, following England Football Accredited Club guides to lead by example. Raising the bar and flying the flag for respect and diversity.
We endeavour to work with our volunteers, managers, coaches, players, parents or associated carers, to ensure that they are aware of, and kept up-to-date with, all FA & County FA rules and regulations relevant to their roles at the club. We will also ensure that all aspects of The FA Respect campaign are adhered to. We believe every child, young person or adult deserves the opportunity to play football, and if we have the capacity to support it, we will. We provide a wide range of platforms to help facilitate both Boys, Girls, Mixed, Mens and Women’s football teams.
The Foundation – Soccer School (Boy & Girls – Aged 4-6 years old) is the bottom rung of our development pyramid.
Our Football Pathway: From Foundation to Open Age Football
Here’s how our player journey looks:
Our journey begins with the Foundation level, where young players, aged 4 to 6, can start developing the basic skills needed to enjoy and succeed in football. The Soccer School provides a fun, friendly, and supportive environment where children begin learning the fundamental ABC’s — Agility, Balance, C0-ordination and Speed through play. It’s about laying the groundwork for a love of the game in a safe, social and inclusive space.
For girls aged 5 to 11, our Runcorn Wildcats Centre offers an exciting opportunity to further develop skills and grow as players. This FA-licensed centre focuses on providing a supportive and empowering environment where girls can thrive. Here, our girls begin to learn more advanced techniques and tactics, all while continuing to build friendships and confidence on and off the pitch.
As players develop their abilities, they transition into our Junior Teams, where the emphasis shifts to refining technical skills, tactical understanding, and teamwork. Concentrating on 3 core area’s Ball Striking – Ball Familiarisation/Manipulation – Overloaded and Underloaded Duels in order to give them the tools to progress. Boys and girls are given the chance to compete in league matches and tournaments, challenging themselves to grow as athletes. We encourage personal development and aim to create a pathway to higher levels of play while fostering a sense of social camaraderie and respect.
As players reach their teenage years, they are integrated into our Youth Teams, where they have the chance to continue developing their footballing talents with more advanced coaching and competitive play. At this stage, our focus is on preparing players for the step ups in playing formats 9v9 / 11v11 and to adult football, with U14s and above having a strong emphasis on fitness, leadership, and tactical awareness.
For those who have reached 16 or beyond, our Open Age Men’s and Women’s Teams offer the opportunity to continue playing at a competitive level. Whether players are joining from our youth system or coming from outside the club, our adult teams provide a platform for both new and seasoned players to compete, develop, and continue enjoying the sport. With a focus on teamwork, skill refinement, and sportsmanship, our open-age teams are where players can continue their football journey as part of a dynamic and inclusive community.
No matter the age or ability, our club strives to make football accessible to everyone. From grassroots players to aspiring stars, our pathway is built on creating opportunities for all to learn, grow, and succeed in football. Whether it’s in a social, developmental, or competitive setting, we provide the platforms and support necessary for players to progress at their own pace.
Here at Runcorn Saxons Football Club our aim is to;
